Buddhists Gather to Observe Moon Festival

About 100 leading Chinese Buddhists Saturday night in Beijing gathered to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival,which falls on September 21.

About 100 leading Chinese Buddhists Saturday night in Beijing gathered to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival,which falls on September 21.

They were the national Buddhist association's senior leaders elected at the seventh national conference of the Buddhist Association this week in Beijing.

Master Yi Cheng, newly inaugurated director of the association,expressed on behalf of the association and delegates, his appreciation for the government's policies and concerns over Buddhism and other religions.

Senior officials attended the celebration, including Liu Yandong, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Ye Xiaowen, director of the State Administration of Religious Affairs.
