A Chinese crane company has received an export order worth 70 million euros for 10 large container cranes from France, the first of its kind for a Chinese firm.

An agreement has been signed between Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Company and French company Societe d'Equipment du Terminal de L'Ocean in Shanghai.

The container crane is the state-of-the-art port crane capable of lifting up to 71 tons to a maximum height of 40 meters.

A spokesperson for the Shanghai-based crane company said the crane was 30 percent more efficient than standard versions, capable of lifting 60 containers per hour.

The Chinese company also won orders earlier this year for 46 cranes from Germany, the Netherlands, Britain and Spain.

The orders are valued at 200 million US dollars.
