Taiwan-based Bank Granted HK Banking License

The International Commercial Bank of China, the 8th biggest bank in Taiwan in terms of total assets, has been granted a banking license by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), announced HKMA Monday.

The International Commercial Bank of China, the 8th biggest bank in Taiwan in terms of total assets, has been granted a banking license by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), announced HKMA Monday.

The grant of banking license under the Banking Ordinance took effect on September 19 2002, it said, adding that the number of licensed banks in Hong Kong has increased to 136.

The International Commercial Bank of China ranked 224th in the world in terms of total assets.
