China's central government supports the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to join in international anti-terrorism efforts for maintaining its own social stability and economic prosperity.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue made these remarks in reply to a question Thursday.

The HK Customs signed a declaration in Hong Kong on Sept. 23 with the United States Customs Service to safeguard the global maritime trade system against terrorism by supporting a US initiative.

Zhang said the central government supports this document, which was made in line with the HKSAR Basic Law.

China opposes terrorism in all forms and welcomes all measures and suggestions beneficial to international anti-terrorism efforts.
