Buyoya Praises Burundi-China Relations

The friendly cooperation between Burundi and China in various fields have yielded fruitful results over the past years, Burundian President Pierre Buyoya said on Thursday.

The friendly cooperation between Burundi and China in various fields have yielded fruitful results over the past years, Burundian President Pierre Buyoya said on Thursday.

The president made the remarks when he received credentials from the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Burundi Feng Zhijunin Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi, said a statement from the Chinese Embassy to Burundi.

Buyoya promised that his government will render every necessary support to the ambassador, saying that he was convinced that the friendly cooperation between the two countries will be further developed during Feng's tenure of office in the country.

Feng said that he appreciated the president's strong efforts in developing China-Burundi relations over the past years.

The ambassador also thanked the Burundian government for its support to China on the issue on human rights and Taiwan.

Feng arrived in Burundi on Sept. 11, said the statement.
