Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao met in Beijing Friday with members of a Vietnamese youth delegation attending China-Vietnam youth friendship meetings.

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao met here Friday with members of a Vietnamese youth delegation attending China-Vietnam youth friendship meetings.

Hailing the Sino-Vietnamese youth friendship meeting, Hu said enhancing mutual exchange and learning between the youth of both countries is of vital importance for creating brighter prospects for the two nations' relations in the new century.

He urged the young people from both countries to make more contributions to the sustained development of the China-Vietnam good-neighborly, friendly and cooperative ties.

Hoang Binh Quan, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, who headed the delegation, said the Vietnamese youth treasure the China-Vietnam friendship.

He said the young peoples from both countries should further strengthen cooperation, so as to carry forward the traditional friendship fostered by the old-generation leaders from both countries.

The Vietnam side sent a 100-member delegation to attend the friendship meetings organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.
