Tropical Storm Megkhla Touches down in South China again

Tropical storm Megkhla hit Qinzhou City, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at around 2 p.m. (Beijing Time) on Friday, bringing gale-force winds, said a report released by the China Central Meteorological Station.

Tropical storm Megkhla hit Qinzhou City, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at around 2 p.m. (Beijing Time) on Friday, bringing gale-force winds, said a report released by the China Central Meteorological Station.

The storm, dubbed Megkhla by Thailand, first struck Sanya, a famous resort on Hainan Island, at about 6:30 p.m. (Beijing time) on Wednesday, bringing torrential rains to the city.

The station said that by 5:00 p.m. Friday, the storm center waslocated at Qinzhou Bay, at 21.6 degrees north latitude and 108.6 degrees east longitude.

The station said that the storm center will linger around coastal areas in the southern part of Guangxi, while a cold front from North China is moving south.

Southern coastal regions, including parts of the Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Region and Guangdong Province, are expected to experience heavy to torrential rains and gale-force winds Friday night and Saturday, said the station.
