Street posters subject to heavy fines in Beijing

An ordinances governing environment sanitation promulgated Tuesday by the Beijing Municipal Government metes out heavy fines on practices that harms the appearance of the city and environment sanitation.

An ordinances governing environment sanitation promulgated Tuesday by the Beijing Municipal Government metes out heavy fines on practices that harms the appearance of the city and environment sanitation.

According to the ordinances, no organization or individual is allowed to send out or paste leaflets or advertisements in public areas, those who break the rule may be subject to fines of up to 10000 yuan (about 1209.19 US dollars).

Spitting or throwing any waste on the ground of public areas are banned as well, offenders may be fined 20 yuan (2.41 dollars) to 50 yuan (6.46 dollars).

To ensure that the capital city is clean and in good order, the ordinances also provides detailed regulations governing decorations of streets and balconies, standards are also set for outdoor advertisement facilities.

Sources from the municipal government said a number of regulatory documents are being drafted to coordinate with the execution of this ordinances.
