"My next goal is to win the title of the World Judo Championships," said Chinese Olympics champion Sun Fuming when she won the women's over 78kg category judo event at the 14th Asian Games Monday.

"It is my first championship ever won in the Asian Games, so it means a lot to me," said Sun at a press conference held after the awarding ceremony.

Sun needs a gold medal of the World Judo Championships to fulfill her dream of taking a grand slam victory, that is, the Olympics, the Asian Games and the world championships.

Sun beat South Korea's Choi Sook-ie, bronze medalist of Sydney Olympics in 2000, to clinch the first judo title for the Chinese team at the Asiad hosted by the South Korean port city of Busan. China won three gold medals at the last Asian Games in Bangkok.

"The overall level of Asia in terms of judo skills is rising but currently we can hardly see any opponents who can really beat us in the over 78kg category," said Chinese judo coach Liu Yongfu.

Liu also said Sun's teammate Yuan Hua, Sydney Olympics champion and gold medalist in the Bangkok Asian Games four years ago, is also China's hot favorite in the same category.

"They may have to undertake the task of winning gold medals for China in the 2004 Olympics, after which new blood will be brought in to prepare for the 2008 Beijing Olympics," said Liu, referring to Sun and Yuan.

The women's heavyweight judo events, including over 72kg, over 78kg and open class categories, have long been dominated by China, with Zhuang Xiaoyan, Sun Fuming and Yuan Hua winning the women's over 72kg or over 78kg gold medal in three straight Olympic Games since 1992.
