DPK Korean weightlifter Ri Song-hui broke a snatch world record of the women's 53kg class at the Asian Games on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old Ri lifted 102.5kg to better the previous world mark of 100 set by Chinese Yang Xia in the Sydney Olympics on Sept.18, 2000.
Ri is on the way to DPR Korea's first gold in the Busan Asian Games as well as in any international multi-sport event held in South Korea.
Ri won the silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the higher 58kg division when she weighed 53.90kg.
Among her rivals are Li Feng-ying of Chinese Taipei, the 2000 Olympic silver medalist in the 53kg class and current world number one Meng Xianjuan.
