Tan Zongliang of China Strikes Men's Air Pistol Gold

Chinese sharpshooter Tan Zongliang shot down men's air pistol gold of the 14th Asian Games Wednesday. Tan totaled 690.3 points for the title. He led the 8 finalists with 590 points after the preliminary round.

Chinese sharpshooter Tan Zongliang shot down men's air pistol gold of the 14th Asian Games Wednesday.

Tan totaled 690.3 points for the title. He led the 8 finalists with 590 points after the preliminary round.

However, Kim Jong-su of Democratic People's Republic of Korea launched a challenge to Tan in the final. He came back from 2-points deficit with a string of amazing 10-plus points and drew with Tan in the ninth shot in 680.1 points.

In the last shot, Tan hit the target with 10.2 points, while Kim, supported by the passional spectators from South Korea, just finished a disappointing 8.6 points.

"I thought Kim left me behind before the final shot." said excited Tan, "So I told myself there was nothing to lose, just relax, and it works."

"But I don't think the final is hard." said Tan, who claimed gold medals of men's free pistol team's event on Tuesday, "I met the DPR Korean in last Asian Games and knew their performance in the final would not as good as the ones in qualifications."

The bronze medal went to Jin Jong-ho from South Korea who shot down 684.4 points, 584 in the qualification and 100.4 in the final.

Another Chinese sharpshooter Wang Yifu, who have won two men's free pistol event both in team and individual, listed fourth in the final.

Tan Zongliang, Wang Yifu and Xu Dan, who also advanced into thefinal but only ranked eighth, grabbed the team's gold after the qualification earlier today.
