Superpower China showed no signs of jitters after winning seven of the eight shooting gold medals yesterday as they cruised to impressive victories here, sweeping all six gold medals at stake on Thursday.

There was, however, a scare for the Chinese air pistol men, who struggled in the final until the last shot to win the gold.

Tan Zongliang from China collected 690.3 points for the title. However, Kim Jong-su of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea launched a fierce challenge in the final.

He overcame a 2-points deficit with a string of amazing 10-pluspoints and drew with Tan in the ninth shot for 680.1 points apiece. ????

In the last shot, Tan hit the target with 10.2 points, while Kim, supported by the passionate spectators from South Korea, just finished a disappointing 8.6 points.

"I thought Kim left me behind before the final shot," said excited Tan who grabbed the gold medal of the men's free pistol team event on Tuesday, "So I told myself there was nothing to lose, just relax, and it works."

"I met the DPR Korean shooters in Bangkok Asian Games four years ago and knew their performances in the final would not as good as the ones in qualifications.

"By contraries, I was especially good at final competitions. So the final today is not as hard as it looked like," said Tan, who already secured the berth for the Athens Olympics in 2004.

The event's team gold medal also went to China as Tan Zongliang,Xu Dan and Wang Yifu, who have already won two gold medals in Asiad, totaled 1,750 points.

In other competitions, Chinese women bagged the air rifle team gold with 1,156 points. Kazakhstan won the silver with 1,130 and the host South Korea bagged the bronze, 1,128.

Tao Luna, the Olympic gold medalist in Sydney, won her second gold of the Games shortly after the team event, defeating her compatriot Ren Jie to win the individual one with 487.2 points.

Ren scored 484.5 and South Korean Park Jung-hee, 476.5, listed third.

The sixth and last gold of China today was presented on the clay-shooting range. Li Hui displayed a flawless performance in the final with a perfect 25 hits to claimed the gold of men's trap.

His fellow Chinese Zhang Yongjie won the silver medal with 23 hits, while Jethro Dionisio of the Philippine managed a bronze one.
