Chinese President Meets French Polynesian Leader

China hopes to work with all governments worldwide to safeguard the peace, stability and development of the entire world, Chinese President Jiang Zemin said in Beijing on Tuesday.

China hopes to work with all governments worldwide to safeguard the peace, stability and development of the entire world, Chinese President Jiang Zemin said in Beijing on Tuesday.

Jiang told Gaston Flosse, chairman of the government of French Polynesia, who is on a visit to China, that China appreciated his efforts to promote friendly relations between French Polynesia and China and hoped his current visit would boost cooperative ties between the two.

Flosse conveyed French President Jacques Chirac's greetings to Jiang, and said China's progress and development as well as its active role in the global community had sparked great interest throughout the world. He said French Polynesia hoped to strengtheneconomic and trade relations with China.
