China Basketballers Trounce Philippines to Remain Unbeaten

Defending champions China pulled away from the second half to trounce Philippines 92-51 on Tuesday and remain unbeaten at the Busan Asian Games men's basketball tournament.

Defending champions China pulled away from the second half to trounce Philippines 92-51 on Tuesday and remain unbeaten at the Busan Asian Games men's basketball tournament.

With their fifth straight victory at the Asiad, China finished top of quarterfinal round-robin Group I with three wins, followed by Philippines (2-1), Japan (1-2) and Chinese Taipei (0-3).

The Philippines, who had been undefeated before Tuesday's match,stayed within 38-21 at the half time before China built up a 71-33lead after the third quarter with a 33-12 burst.

The Chinese will play the second place finishers from Group II,which included South Korea and Kazakhstan, in the semifinals.
