Israeli Army Storms Rafah

More than 40 Israeli tanks, armored vehicles and personnel carriers were rolling into the town of RafahWednesday night in the southern Gaza Strip bordering Egypt, witnesses reported.

More than 40 Israeli tanks, armored vehicles and personnel carriers were rolling into the town of RafahWednesday night in the southern Gaza Strip bordering Egypt, witnesses reported.

Local Palestinians said Israeli army supported by two Apache attack helicopters were moving from three directions towards the town's refugee camp of 120,000 population.

Palestinian militants and Israeli soldiers have been clashing along the border areas over the last two years.

Fighting flared up Tuesday and Wednesday in the region, killing three Palestinian children and wounding two Israeli soldiers.

Residents say they have fears that Israeli army would target civilians, like what happened on Monday when Israeli soldiers raided the neighborhood of Al Ammal in the town of Khan Younis north of Rafah.

In Khan Younis, Israelis troops shot dead 13 Palestinians withinless than four hours. Another four Palestinians died of severe wounds at a local hospital in the past two days, bringing the deathtoll to 17 on the Palestinian side.
