A large-scale program demonstrating Chinese and foreign motor vehicles will be launched here on November 17.

The event is aimed at promoting automobile culture and display new products, including cars, coaches, trucks and sport-utility vehicles, the event's organizer Li Jianning said here Saturday.

The campaign is expected to run for several years. The first major event is an automobile tour covering 2,680 kilometers from Beijing, through several provinces and to Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China.

All motor vehicles taking part will be tested to ensure their quality before each tour and their performance will be supervised throughout the campaign.

At the end of the tour, awards will be given to the vehicles with the best performance or the lowest gas consumption. People can also vote for their favorite model.
