Electronic Book Appears Chinese Market

A ceremony was held in South China's Shenzhen City Saturday to officially release an electronic book on the Chinese market.

A ceremony was held in South China's Shenzhen City Saturday to officially release an electronic book on the Chinese market.

Jointly developed by a company under Nankai University and Founder Group Corp. under Beijing University, the 32mo and 400-gram electronic book has a maximum capacity of storing 16 million Chinese characters. Two small batteries are able to power the reading of over 10,000 pages.

More than 100 Chinese publishing houses and some leading websites such as Sina and Netease have agreed to provide reading material for the electronic book.

Sources said Japanese-language electronic books are being developed.
