DHL to Open 10 New Express Delivery Centers in China

DHL Worldwide Express will set up another 10 express delivery centers in China in the coming 12 to 18 months, raising the total number of delivery centers in China to 49, Uwe Dorken, chairman and CEO of DHL, said in Beijing Saturday.

DHL Worldwide Express will set up another 10 express delivery centers in China in the coming 12 to 18 months, raising the total number of delivery centers in China to 49, Uwe Dorken, chairman and CEO of DHL, said here Saturday.

The new centers will provide DHL's business clients in China with a full range of services, such as modern air express delivery,e-commerce fulfillment, and intelligent logistics solutions in several hundred Chinese cities.

DHL plans to build a joint venture with Air Hong Kong with a total investment of 400 million yuan (48.3 million US dollars). DHL also has pledged to operate an express cargo terminal at Hong Kong International Airport.

Dorken said express delivery will develop more drastically as the growth of China's economy speeds up. DHL will continue to expand services in China.

DHL entered China 23 years ago. At the beginning of 2002, nearly one third of DHL's overall global investment was in the Asia-Pacific region, with China receiving a major part.
