China's Xu Yuhua Qualified at World Cup Chess Championship

The women's defending champion XuYuhua of China entered the next stage Monday though she finished second in her group behind Stefanova Antoneta of Russia at the World Cup chess tournament in Hyderabad, south India.

The women's defending champion XuYuhua of China entered the next stage Monday though she finished second in her group behind Stefanova Antoneta of Russia at the World Cup chess tournament in Hyderabad, south India.

Xu Yuhua defeated Swati Ghate of India in Group B to finish with 2.5 points while Antoneta had 3.5 points.

India's Grandmaster Koneru Humpy and S. Meenakshi of India alsomoved into the quarterfinals, topping Group C and D respectively.

After winning her first four games, Humpy settled for a draw against American Irina Krush Monday and both the players moved ahead. Humpy had 4.5 points to Krush's 3.5.
