China to Promote Ties with Oman: State Councilor

China will continue its efforts to promote friendship and cooperation with Oman in various fields on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

China will continue its efforts to promote friendship and cooperation with Oman in various fields on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi made these remarks at a meeting Wednesday with Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry Maqbool Bin Ali Bin Sultan.

Wu said she hoped Maqbool's visit would further promote the development of bilateral friendship and cooperation.

She reviewed the history of bilateral friendship and the smooth progress of cooperation in such fields as politics, economy, trade, culture and health since the two countries forged diplomatic ties.

Wu said she was satisfied with the rapid development of bilateral cooperation in petroleum.

She was convinced that with joint efforts from both sides, bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and project engineering would achieve greater heights.

Wu also voiced her appreciation for Oman's one-China policy.

Maqbool briefed Wu on his visits to Guangzhou and Shanghai, two of China's commercial centers, saying that Oman would further ties with China as the two peoples enjoyed a traditional friendship.

Maqbool is here as guest of China's Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Shi Guangsheng to attend a bilateral economic and trade meeting.
