Top Chinese Lawmaker Meets Vietnamese Guests

China is willing to work with Vietnam to develop cooperation with mutual support and trust, Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), said Wednesday.

China is willing to work with Vietnam to develop cooperation with mutual support and trust, Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), said Wednesday.

He was speaking while meeting with a Vietnamese delegation led by former Vice-President Nguyen Thi Binh.

Li said China and Vietnam were close neighbors and the two peoples had forged a deep friendship during the cause of socialist revolution and construction, which both nations treasured.

Praising China's significant achievements in economic construction, Binh said she hoped China could make greater contributions to maintaining world peace and promoting human development.

The delegation is here at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
