Fourth China High-tech Fair Ends with Record Deals

China's annual high-tech fair ended Thursday in Shenzhen with a record 1,581 deals worth 12.16 billion US dollars, up 16.7 percent over last year's fair, its organizers said.

China's annual high-tech fair ended here Thursday with a record 1,581 deals worth 12.16 billion US dollars, up 16.7 percent over last year's fair, its organizers said.

During the six-day Fourth China High-tech Fair (CHTF), Chinese and overseas companies signed 1,453 contracts related to technology and high-tech products, worth 11.23 billion US dollars,or about 92.4 percent of the total.

About 2.05 billion US dollars worth of export and import contracts were also signed, of which 1.55 billion US dollars was for exports.

Nearly 3,700 companies and institutions from China and 40 othercountries and regions throughout the world were participating, including 42 multinational companies.

A total of 7,749 high-tech projects were on display at the fair,which is held annually in south China's booming city of Shenzhen, which borders Hong Kong.
