Colombia Sees Coming visit by Chinese FM to Ancom as Historic

Colombia said on Thursday that the forthcoming visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan to the Andean community (Ancom) will be a historic one.

Colombia said on Thursday that the forthcoming visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan to the Andean community (Ancom) will be a historic one.

Colombian Vice Foreign Minister Clemencia Forero told the Andean bloc the goal of the meeting with the Chinese foreign minister was to strengthen political dialogue between the two sides, discuss the further opening of markets and technology transfer, and learn from China's experience in setting up special economic zones.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan will visit Argentina and Colombia on Oct. 17-22. He will meet the foreign ministers from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela on Oct. 21 in Colombia to begin political consultations between the two sides, the first of their kind.

The Ancom comprises Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
