American companies are planning to invest in environmental projects in underdeveloped Guizhou Province, southwest China, with the assistance of the US government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

"We aim to make more American companies aware of Guizhou and invest here," said Steward Ballard, head of the US liaison Office to the ADB.

Ballard is touring Guizhou with representatives from Han's Tech.Inc., and Camp Dresser and McKee International Inc., two US environmental companies.

On Saturday evening, the firms signed agreements with the provincial government, Guiyang City and Bijie Prefecture.

According to local officials, the local governments are studying policies to ensure investors profit from investing in environmental projects.
