Gyamco, vice-chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, met Monday with an Australian delegation led by Garry Nehl, vice-speaker of the Australian House of Representatives.

Gyamco thanked the Australian government for its recent medical assistance through a 2-million-Australian-dollar project aimed at curing iodine-deficiency. He said this project, which is supported by Nehl, is very important for the health of the Tibetan people.

The agricultural cooperation project, also supported by Nehl, will play an important role in the livestock industry in Tibet, Gyamco said.

He also briefed Nehl on China's recent economic development.

Nehl, who is currently visiting China for the fourth time, noted that on each of his visits, he observes dramatic changes, something of which both the Chinese government and the Tibetan Autonomous Regional government should be proud.
