China's enormous market and human resources make it a logical and ideal hot-bed for the high-tech industry, delegates attending the Forum on the Development of Chinese High-tech Industry said Monday in Beijing.

Gary Cheng, founder of Venglobal Partners in Silicon Valley of the United States, noted that China boasts a deep talent pool consisting of scholars at universities and research institutes and students who have returned from overseas. He also noted the lack of highly experienced managerial talent.

There is currently a perfect match between a large number of university graduates and students who have returned from overseas which provides a talent base for the development of the high-tech industry, said Liu Zhaoxuan, chairman of the Taiwan Monte Jade Science and Technology Association.

He said China's educational system should adapt to the needs of the future corporate world through training creative, versatile talents.

Cheng said, following China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), strong domestic demand and intensified competition will provide strong impetus for the development of thehigh-tech industry.

The forum, aiming at improving cooperation among Chinese high-tech enterprises around the globe, was jointly sponsored by the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel, the China Association for Science and Technology, the China International Talent Exchange Foundation, the Beijing Association for International Exchange, and the Monte Jade Science and Technology Association.
