An upcoming Chinese culture week in Egypt will open a window on China, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liu Xiaoming said Tuesday in Cairo.

The event, which will be held in Cairo and the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria from Oct. 28 to Nov. 2, will provide a golden opportunity for the Egyptians to enjoy Beijing Opera, acrobatics and traditional Chinese music, thus learning more about Chinese culture, Liu told reporters.

The Chinese culture week in Egypt will be the fourth of its kind in addition to such activities in the United States, France and Germany.

During the event, a Chinese cultural center will be inaugurated in Cairo, the first of its kind in the Arab world and Africa at large, according to Liu.

"The Chinese culture week in Egypt will certainly promote mutual understanding between the peoples of our two countries, and set a good example for dialogue between different cultures," he said.
