Chinese researchers say they have finished the first report on environmental resources and sustainable development along the New Asian-Europe Continental Bridge.

The report shows that the Chinese segment of the continental bridge, an area of over 800 thousand square kilometers, enjoys favorable soil vegetation, rich minerals, and tourism resources.

But the report also points out that water shortage and frequent natural disasters have restricted the social and economic development of this area.

The continental bridge refers to the comprehensive transportation system linking Asia and Europe. It starts from ports on the west coast of the Pacific and winds west to the east coast of the Atlantic.
