Chinese, Italian Port Cities Set up Sisterhood

Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China, and Genoa, Italy, announced Wednesday in Dalian to establish sisterhood ties of friendship and cooperation.

Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China, and Genoa, Italy, announced Wednesday in Dalian to establish sisterhood ties of friendship and cooperation.

A separate sisterhood link was also set up by the Port of Dalian and the Port of Genoa.

Mayor Li Yongjin of Dalian met with Marta Vincenzi, deputy mayor of Genoa, Wednesday. Li expressed his hope that the initiative will promote exchanges and cooperation between the two cities, as well as between the two countries.

Marta Vincenzi told the host that she had observed striking similarities between the two port cities and said that it is important that the two cities cooperate with one another.

Since 1979, Dalian has established friendly relations with 19 foreign cities.
