Ex-Judge in South China Province Under Investigation
The former chief justice of southern China's Guangdong province is being investigated for accepting massive bribes.

The former president of the Higher People's Court of
Guangdong
Province has been striped of membership in the Communist Party of China and the provincial People's Congress and is being investigated for bribery.
Mai Chongkai and his son allegedly took bribes of nearly 12 million yuan (US$1.44 million) from January 1989 to February 1998. Mai is also suspected of abusing his power to obtain "huge bank loans" to support his son's business operation.
Mai was also accused of using his influence to secure large bank loans for his son's business. Mai was also accused of living a "morally degenerate" life.
