Expressway Chain Collision Took Big Toll in East China

Four people were killed and another 44 were injured due to a chain collision on the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway in Gaoyou, Jiangsu Province, on October 20, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

Four people were killed and another 44 were injured due to a chain collision on the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway in Gaoyou, Jiangsu Province, on October 20, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

A small truck smashed into a chemical-tank vehicle in the rain at about 4 p.m., cracking the valve of the tank. Deadly smog of phosphorus trichloride leakage rose as a result of rainfall overhead made onrushing vehicles brake to a sudden stop.

About 10,000 villagers nearby were evacuated immediately for the killing smog of the Phosphorus trichloride leakage produced. By 11:30 p.m., with the leakage and risks removed, traffic on the expressway after 7-hour interruption was finally resumed.
