DPRK Condemns Hostage-taking Incident in Moscow

The Democratic People's Republicof Korea (DPRK) strongly condemns the hostage-taking raid in Moscow, during which some Chechen militants took hundreds of people hostage, said a Senior DPRK official on Saturday.

The Democratic People's Republicof Korea (DPRK) strongly condemns the hostage-taking raid in Moscow, during which some Chechen militants took hundreds of people hostage, said a Senior DPRK official on Saturday.

"It is the firm principled stand of the DPRK government to oppose all forms of terrorism and any support for it," said a message of sympathy sent by Kim Yong Nam, President of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The DPRK consistently supports the Russian government in its efforts to put an end to terrorism and separatist attempts in Chechnya, the message said.

On Wednesday evening, up to 50 Chechen "terrorists" broke into a cultural palace in Moscow and took some 700 people hostage. Theydemanded an end to the Chechen war and a pullout of Russian troopsfrom Chechnya.
