Last year's silver-medalist Zhong Weifu of China went step further to claim Dalian Marathon men's title on Thursday as fellow Chinese Zhu Xiaolin cruised to the women's gold.

Zhong, champion of this competition in 2000, won the champion in two hours 21 minutes 23 seconds.

Cold weather and ankle injury worked against Zhong before he finally clinched the title. But the athlete, trained under the world renowned athletic coach Ma Junren, was not satisfied with his result.

"The result is not good enough," said Zhong.

Russian D. Lurbanov finished second in 2:22:09 and Chinese Li Yan collected the bronze in 2:22:20.

China's reigning national champion Gong Ke only got a mediocre fifth-place finish in 2:23:19.
