China's Tibetan Experts Exchange Views with German Counterparts

A group of Tibetan experts from China ended their 6-day visit to Germany on Sunday, after a fruitful exchange of views with their German counterparts.

A group of Tibetan experts from China ended their 6-day visit to Germany on Sunday, after a fruitful exchange of views with their German counterparts.

The delegation included four leading experts on Tibetan studies: Professor Tondrubwangbum of the Central Nationalities University in Beijing, Professor Changngoba Tseyang from the Tibet University,Zheng Dui of the Chinese Research Center for Tibetology and Jiaobadongzhu, an expert from Qinghai Province.

During their visit to the Bonn University on Friday, the four scholars briefed their German counterparts on the efforts in Chinato save and study the precious materials on Tibetan cultural heritage.

Peter Schwieger, a professor in charge of the Tibetan department of the Bonn University, said that his school is keen on cooperation with Chinese institutions in the Tibetan studies.

On Thursday, the delegation also visited the Bundestag (lower chamber of the German parliament) and was received by Christa Nickels, chairwoman of the Human Rights Committee.

Nickels said that the German people and their government have always upheld the one-China policy, recognizing Tibet as an inseparable part of China. She also supported continued exchanges between German and Chinese scholars so as for Germany to better understand Tibet.

The Tibetan experts also held discussions with scholars of the Society of Asian Studies in Hamburg.
