A website was opened Monday in south China's Guangdong Province to improve the investment environment and protect the interests of foreign investors.

The website at www.gdccfi.gov.cn, funded by the Guangdong provincial department of foreign trade and economic cooperation, offered an opportunity for overseas investors to make complaints and requests electronically to the authority, said Liang Weifa, director of the department.

Foreign investors may also use the website to widen communication with government departments as well as other foreign-funded enterprises.

The website will also provide a supplementary service as the province set up an office in January to deal with complaints from investors. Government departments would respond to the complaints swiftly, said the official.

Statistics show that by the end of September Guangdong Provincehad approved 94,294 direct foreign investment projects totaling 120.78 billion U.S. dollars. About one-third of investment in Guangdong comes from foreign investors.
