FM: Anti-terror Fight Should not be Linked to Specific Ethnic Groups

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said here Tuesday the fight against terrorism should not be linked to any specific ethnic groups, religions or countries.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said here Tuesday the fight against terrorism should not be linked to any specific ethnic groups, religions or countries.

Liu made the remark at a regular press conference when asked tocomment on the joint anti-terror statement issued by leaders at the 10th annual Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

The spokesman said that as an international battle, the anti-terrorism campaign has won support and cooperation from most countries in the world and leaders of APEC members have decided tostrength anti-terrorism cooperation in such fields as customs, communications, finance and networks.

This cooperation is on the basis of the APEC Shanghai meeting last year to create a sound and safe environment for regional economic and trade development, Liu said.
