Senior CPC Official Appreciates Bahamas' One-China Policy

A senior official of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Monday thanked the Bahamian government and the Bahamas' ruling party, the Progressive Liberal Party, for their adherence to the one-China policy, according to reports from the Bahamas.

A senior official of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Monday thanked the Bahamian government and the Bahamas' ruling party, the Progressive Liberal Party, for their adherence to the one-China policy, according to reports from the Bahamas.

Cai Wu, deputy head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee and leader of a CPC friendship delegation, held talks with Bahamian Prime Minister and leader of the Progressive Liberal Party Perry Christie in the Bahamian capital of Nassau.

Cai conveyed the greetings of Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji to Christie and thanked the Progressive Liberal Party for inviting the CPC delegation for the visit, the first by a CPC delegation.

Christie asked the delegation to pass on his greetings and regards to the Chinese premier, saying the Bahamian government andhis party will continue to pursue the one-China policy. He also believed that the friendly cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy and culture will be further consolidated and developed.

Cai and his entourage arrived in the Bahamas on Sunday after visiting Jamaica and the Republic of Suriname.
