Uganda, US Discuss Peace in Great Lakes Region

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has held talks with visiting US General Carlton Fulford on the progress of the peace process in the Great Lakes region, a press release issued by the State House said in Kampala on Wednesday.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has held talks with visiting US General Carlton Fulford on the progress of the peace process in the Great Lakes region, a press release issued by the State House said in Kampala on Wednesday.

Museveni received Fulford, deputy commander in chief of the European Command, on Monday in Gulu town, northern Uganda.

During the talks, Fulford reviewed the progress of the peace process in the Great Lakes region with a view to identifying where and how the international community can help to expedite the return of peace and security in the region, the press release said.

The special mission will take Fulford to Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi where he is scheduled to meet with the respective heads ofstate of those countries, according to the press release.
