New Armani Store in HK Shows Commitment for China

Hong Kong is one of the most cosmopolitan and vibrant cities in the world and an important gateway to China -- a marketplace with huge potential, said leading Italian fashion group Giorgio Armani which opened a multi-brand flagship store here Friday.

At the opening ceremony, the group also announced that it is planning to open 20 to 30 stores in the Chinese mainland over the next three to five years.

China is the fastest growing economy in the world and its huge potential is to be visualized, said the group, adding that the new Hong Kong store is a symbol for its commitment for China.

The 3,000-square meter flagship store, the company's largest in the world after Milan's Armani/Via Manzoni, is located in Chater House, Central, which is Hong Kong's business and financial center.

It is the first Armani store in the world which brings the designer's two main runway fashion collections Giorgi Armani and Emporio Armani, his youth-oriented AJ/Armani Jeans collection, his newly-launched cosmetics, home interior collections, flowers, a bookstore and a cafe altogether under one roof.

The group opened its first store in Beijing in 1998 and the first Armmani Collezioni store in Shenzhen this year while its first store in Hong Kong was opened earlier in 1982.
