International Arts Festival Opens in Shanghai

Shanghai
International Arts Festival in Shanghai on Friday.
At another theater in Shanghai, The Gurgling Stream, a lantern song and dance ensemble from southwest China's
Yunnan
province was on stage at the same time.
Six performances from six different countries were being stagedon Friday evening.
Shanghai residents will enjoy 120 shows performed by artists from 23 countries and regions during the whole of November, including ballet, a symphony orchestra, jazz, opera, drama and acrobatics.
An
Australia
n Culture Week will be held to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia.
Nine exhibitions will be held during the festival such as the China Arts and Crafts Fair, Shanghai Art Fair and the Shanghai Biennial 2002.
More than 300 delegates from performing companies worldwide arepresent at the Shanghai Performing Arts Fair that also opened herefour days ago, including the International Society for the Performing Arts Foundation, International Artist Managers' Association and Columbia Artists Management Inc.
In the past four days, 82 contracts and agreements have been signed.
The international arts festival, sponsored by the
Ministry of Culture
, has been held annually since 1999.
