The curfew would be lifted in Kabul on Sunday after more than twenty years, according to Alisha Paktiawal, spokesperson of Afghan Interior Ministry.
Before the meeting to appoint members for drafting new constitution at the Presidential Palace, Paktiawal told Xinhua that with the approval of President Karzai, the ministry decided to call off the curfew because of the improving security in the capital city and there was no exact time to resume it.
After Noor Mohammad Taraki, supported by the former Soviet Union, overthrew Daoud's government 23 years ago, he imposed a curfew on Kabul.
After the collapse of Taliban, the interim government began to loosen the curfew gradually.
Except for small accidents, there was no serious incidents in Kabul in recent months under the protection of Afghan security forces and around 4,700 International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) soldiers who patrol the city every day on foot or by vehicles.
