Chinese Ambassador to Angola Zhang Beisan made the remarks after meeting Angolan Parliament Speaker Roberto de Almeida, localmedia reported Monday.

The new Chinese diplomat, who presented his credentials to Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos last week, said that he was briefed on Angola's current political situation.

The Angolan civil war, which broke out in 1975 after the country's independence from Portugal and ended in April this year, killed about a million people and displaced 4 million more, obstructing greatly the country's economic development.
