Leaders of Pakistan's two largest parties said on Tuesday the Nov. 8 parliament inauguration should be postponed.

Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (QA), the largest party with 118 seats in the 342-seat parliament, said in a news release that through a consultative process, the representatives of major political parties "have reached a finding that it may not be suitable to convene the National Assembly on Friday (Nov. 8)."

"Such a move might prove precipitous and may even vitiate the existing negotiating environment of discussion, dialogue and consensus building among all the representatives of key political parties." he added.

Makhdoom Amin Fahim, leader of the Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), the second largest party with 81 parliament seats in hand, also said on Tuesday in an news interview that the present political impasse requires further discussion and deliberation by the political parties to facilitatea stable resolution of the problem.

Fahim has written a letter to President Pervez Musharraf urging him to postpone the inaugural session of the newly-elected National Assembly.

In the Oct. 10 general elections, no party secured majority inthe parliament to be qualified as the single leader of the future government.
