The United States announced on Tuesday the expulsion of four Cuban diplomats for what the US side described as their unacceptable activities.

The US State Department declared Oscar Redondo Toledo and Gustavo Machin Gomez, both first secretaries of Cuba's diplomatic mission in Washington, "persona non grata" and ordered them to leave the country in 10 days, local reports quoted the department's press officer, Frederick Jones, as saying.

Jones said the two Cuban diplomats were linked to the case of Ana Belen Montes, an employee of the US Defense Intelligence Agency, who was recently put behind the bars for 25 years for spying for Cuba.

Meanwhile, the US administration also ordered two members of Cuba's mission to the United Nations to leave the country for "activities deemed to be harmful to the United States."
