Chinese Defense Minister Meets Singapore Visitors

With China-Singapore ties continuing to develop, exchanges between their armed forces have also increased in recent years, said Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian in Beijing Wednesday.

With China-Singapore ties continuing to develop, exchanges between their armed forces have also increased in recent years, said Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian in Beijing Wednesday.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, made the remark when meeting Lim Kim Choon, chiefof Singapore's Air Force, and his party.

The Chinese government and its armed forces highly valued friendly cooperation with Singapore, and were ready to join efforts with the armed forces of Singapore to promote friendship as well as dialogues and exchanges among countries in the Asia-Pacific region, he said.

Singapore valued friendly cooperation in all fields with China,Lim said, noting their friendship not only served the fundamental interests of the two peoples, but also benefited the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.

China had made remarkable achievements in economic development,he said, and Singapore wished to contribute further to friendly exchanges between the two countries and their armed forces.
