GE sets up Global Development Center in China

General Electric Company (GE) from the United States signed an agreement here Wednesday to establish its first Global Development Center.

General Electric Company (GE) from the United States signed an agreement here Wednesday to establish its first Global Development Center.

After of a search for a strategic partner that began in early 2000, GE carefully selected Dalian Haihui Technology Co. Ltd. in this northeastern coastal city from among hundreds of IT companies.

The center is expected to take advantage of the large pool of Chinese software engineers to develop GE's software business.

The center will also open software markets in southeast Asia, Japan and China.

Chinese analysts say GE's move will boost the export of software products.
