BOC Hong Kong to be Included in Hang Seng Index

BOC (Bank of China) Hong Kong (Holdings) Ltd will be included in the HSI Services Ltd (HSIL), according to HSIL's announcement on Friday.

BOC (Bank of China) Hong Kong (Holdings) Ltd will be included in the HSI Services Ltd (HSIL), according to HSIL's announcement on Friday.

HSIL said it will remove Hang Lung Group Ltd and Hysan Development Co Ltd from the Hang Seng Index, while BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Ltd and Esprit Holdings Ltd will be included.

The constituent changes will take effect on December 2, HSI Services said in the announcement.

Assuming that the constituent changes had become effective at the end of October 2002, the market capitalization coverage of theHang Seng Index would have risen 79.1 percent from 76.6 percent.

Corresponding to the changes on the Hang Seng Index, Hang Lung and Hysan will also be removed from the Hang Seng London ReferenceIndex, while Esprit Holdings will be included.
