Putin Praises Interior Forces to Mark Police Day
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday praised the Interior Forces for their doing "noble, difficult, and extremely dangerous job."

n President Vladimir Putin on Sunday praised the Interior Forces for their doing "noble, difficult, and extremely dangerous job."
Marking the annual Police Day at an unveiling ceremony of a monument to the slain Interior Ministry servicemen, Putin said themonument was a tribute to those "who defended peace and order in the country at the cost of their lives."
"The Interior Forces are doing a noble, difficult, and extremely dangerous job," and their principal goal was "to protectthe people and their security," said the president.
Russia's Interior Ministry includes both police who handle crime and servicemen who are called upon to fight in internal conflicts.
Commenting on international terrorist threat at the present stage, Putin said the Interior Forces bear an especially importantresponsibility in this respect.
According to Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov, at least one Russian policeman dies on duty every day.
"Statistics say we are losing at least one police officer everyday, not only in Chechnya, but also in other parts of Russia," he was quoted by the Itar-tass news agency.
