Kim Dae-jung's Youngest Son Receives Suspended Sentence

Another son of South Korean President Kim Dae-jung on Monday was sentenced in jail for two years with three-year suspension and a 200 million won (155,600 US dollars) fine for charges of bribery and tax evasion.

This sentence of Kim Hong-gul, the youngest son of the president, came just after his second elder brother Kim Hong-up's sentence of three and a half years of imprisonment on Nov. 11 for bribery, which also made by Seoul District Court.

Moreover, according to South Korean national news agency, former Vice Mayor of Seoul Kim Hee-wan was sentenced to 18 months in prison with a two-year suspension and fined 80 million won (62,240 dollars) while Choi Kyu-sun, former aide to President Kim Dae-jung, received 30 months in prison and a 456 million won (354,768 dollars) file.

Both of them were jailed for accepting bribes from Tiger Pools International (TPI) in return for helping the company win a government license for a lucrative sports lotto business, reported Yonhap.

Kim Hong-gul was indicted last June for taking stocks and money worth of 3.69 billion won (2.9 million dollars) from TPI and a construction firm vying in for a tender. He was also charged with tax evasion worth 224 million won (174,272 dollars).
