FM Spokesman on US Assistant Secretary of State's Visit to China

Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Assistant Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong will hold talks Wednesday with US Assistant Secretary of State James Kelly, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan at a press conference Tuesday.

Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Assistant Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong will hold talks Wednesday with US Assistant Secretary of State James Kelly, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan at a press conference Tuesday.

The officials from both sides will exchange ideas on how to implement the consensus reached by Chinese President Jiang Zemin and US President George W. Bush during their meeting at Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, Kong said.

He said that James Kelly, the US assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, will undoubtedly discuss the situation in east Asia and Asia as a whole.

Also, the two sides will exchange views on the international situation in other parts of the world and on other issues of common concern, according to Kong.

Kelly arrived here Tuesday afternoon.
